A royal river, the Loire is a land of castles AND running, as evidenced by the Marathon de la Loire. Quite simply. Are you coming?
What you will find on site:
• A marathon, a half-marathon and a combined event;
• A breathtaking view of the local heritage, enough to keep you entertained;
• Refreshments, pacemakers, shuttles and post-race care;
Course focus:
Meet in Saumur for the start of the Marathon de la Loire. Keep your eyes peeled, the landscapes you are about to cross are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Between old boatmen’s villages and other troglodyte villages nestled on the banks of the last wild river in Europe, you’re going to have a blast. Well, not too wild, we hope, because the combined event includes 12 km of canoeing in pairs! Don’t panic, the equipment is provided. We hope you don’t get seasick, it would be a shame if your expensive energy compotes ran away. To recover from your emotions (and stock up on compotes), don't hesitate to drop by the race village, which has more than 40 exhibitors.
4 (very) good reasons to participate:
• The course that runs along the river, and is therefore particularly flat (small RP?);
• The gastronomic center of the race village to get you back on your feet;
• Musical entertainment every kilometer to entertain you;
• The ideal excuse to visit some of the Loire Valley castles.
