Ahhh the sweet mornings of June. The sun is shining, the seagulls are singing… and the runners are having a blast at the Olonnes Half Marathon. Are you joining the movement?
What you will find there:
• Two flagship races on Sunday: a 10 km and a GOLD-certified half marathon. The day before, it's the children who open the show on adapted races;
• Courses designed for performance: flat, rolling, measured by World Athletics, and perfect for aiming for a qualification for the French championships;
• Perfect organization: instructions, well-distributed solid and liquid refreshments, and a crowd that encourages you at each loop.
Course focus:
With 4,500 runners on the starting line, you can feel the sporting excitement from the first few meters. The Remblai des Sables d'Olonne rolls out its conveyor belt: two loops for the half, one for the 10 km, with a crazy view of the ocean and the bay. The passage around the Tanchet lake offers a peaceful moment before braving the spray of the Puits de l'Enfer and the waves of the different surf spots. Here, each stride is loaded with encouragement as much as it breathes performance… and sea air.
PS: don’t panic, you’re running IN LES Sables, not ON the sand. Your calves are delighted.
3 very good reasons to participate:
• Running in a GOLD-labeled half-marathon means committing to an elite but accessible race. The opportunity to measure yourself against the cream of the French half-marathon;
• A moving postcard: the course lets you discover Les Sables d’Olonne in a different way, between the Remblai, the lake and the bay;
• Join the circle of major Vendée events (IronMan, Vendée Globe, etc.), because you too can play in the big leagues.
