The Trail de Haute Provence is Forcalquier switching into trail mode for several days. Short formats to discover, long distances to fully commit, relays, night races, children's and inclusive courses: the THP has this rare ability to bring together many different profiles without losing its identity.
The scenery does the rest. The Pays de Forcalquier, the Montagne de Lure, the villages, the ridges, the dry trails, the more technical sections, the Provence light hitting just right… Here, you come to run, but you also come to immerse yourself in an atmosphere. You pick up your race bib, head to the village, cross paths with starts, finishes, concerts, food trucks, friends who are a little doubtful and those pretending to be calm. In short: a real trail weekend, not just a line on a calendar.
What you'll find on site:
- A THP village in the heart of Forcalquier, with exhibitors, food, a refreshment stand, entertainment and that festival atmosphere that makes you want to stay after the race;
- Formats for almost every desire: from the accessible 10 km to the grand ultra, through intermediate trails, relays and more specific experiences like the two-person night race;
- A true Haute-Provence identity: possible heat, mineral trails, open ridges, villages, high-altitude forests and terrain that demands you run with your head as much as with your legs.
Course focus: The THP is run on the trails of the Pays de Forcalquier and the Montagne de Lure, between approximately 500 m and 1,826 m in altitude depending on the format. The courses alternate between steep climbs, technical descents, faster-rolling tracks, panoramic ridges and forest sections. This is not terrain made for cruising on autopilot: you need to manage, drink, push again at the right moment and accept that Provence can be as demanding as it is beautiful.
The longer formats clearly raise the bar, with the THP160, THP120, THP80 or the THP65 for those who want a real day — or more — on the trails. The intermediate distances let you experience the Montagne de Lure without necessarily embarking on an ultra. And the short formats keep the THP spirit: accessible, yes, but never bland.
The big novelty is also this desire to open up trail running differently: a THP Olympe designed as a short, intense and clear format, a THP 1 lune pour 2 to share a night race, a THP Horizon designed for inclusion, and relays to experience the adventure as a group. The THP moves forward, tests, adjusts, but keeps its red thread: making people run Haute-Provence with character.
