Every year, the Marathon de la Liberté race has a date with history. This event created in tribute to the liberation of the city by the Allied forces brings together 27,000 runners to compete. So, why not you?
What you'll find on site:
* A legendary race organized since 1988;
* Not one, not two, but 8 distances (from 1.5 km to 42.195 km) plus a relay option for the marathon;
* Pacers to give you the tempo;
* Shuttles to reach the start, and a recovery area with masseurs and physiotherapists for your great happiness.
Course focus:
The marathon honors the key sites of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. Start near Juno and Sword Beach, heading inland to reach the city of Caen along a route dotted with commemorative monuments and steles.
The half-marathon starts in front of Pegasus Bridge, the first bridge liberated by Allied soldiers. From there, the route follows that of the marathon for a triumphant finish in downtown Caen.
The 10 km is 100% urban to discover the "city of a hundred bell towers". Don't forget to watch the road so you don't twist an ankle, we're telling you...
Cherry on top of the aid stations: la Rochambelle, a race-walk for the benefit of the fight against breast cancer, and les Foulées de la liberté, the youth race.
Now you just have to choose!
3 reasons to participate:
* Tread on places as beautiful as they are pivotal in French history;
* Enjoy the sea air and the immensity of Norman beaches;
* The Norman buffet at the finish (we don't lose our bearings).
