Ruta Catalunya

Ride far. Ride free. Ride on your own strength. The Ruta Catalunya is an ultra-cyclist event that pays tribute to the legendary Volta Catalunya, one of the oldest races in the world. Here, no timing, no podium, just you and the 4 provinces of Catalonia to cross in less than 6 days.

What you'll find there:

• An adventure of +/- 1000 km and 14,000 m of elevation gain, to cover in 6 days;
• A common start in Barcelona, but totally autonomous progression;
• No assistance: management of food, water, sleep and mechanics by yourself alone;
• Total immersion in Catalonia, from the beaches of the Costa Brava to the peaks of Montseny, passing through Girona, lake Banyoles, Montserrat, the natural park of Serralada de la Marina and Serra del Montsec;
• A community of passionate cyclists from all backgrounds, sharing an extraordinary challenge.

Course focus:

The start is at Port del Forum in Barcelona, with an urban exit through the fluvial park of Río Besòs. Then, heading to Serralada de la Marina and the Montnegre massif, before reaching the wild beaches of Costa Brava. After 200 km, Girona and the tour around lake Banyoles offer a welcome refreshing break. Then, the route plunges into the beating heart of Catalonia: Montserrat, the pantanos, Montseny, Serra del Montsec, to finish on the Mediterranean in the province of Tarragona.

Every kilometer is lived at your own pace. The GPX track is indicative, the rest depends on you and the conditions of the moment. No imposed stages, no organized accommodation: you choose where and when you stop. Autonomy is not a constraint, it's the heart of the experience.

Sharing a stretch of road, a meal, a moment of doubt or a discussion, that's also the Ruta Catalunya. The ultra is not solitude: it's responsibility, autonomy and exchange.

At the finish, a simple evening allows you to celebrate your crossing, soberly but fully, with the other participants.
