A trail that ticks all the boxes: elevation gain, panoramas that open up at just the right moment… and a cause that gives your outing even more meaning. The Saint-Max Trail takes you up into the heights of the Grésivaudan, above Pontcharra, for a day where you're not just here to run.

What you'll find on-site:

  • Two trail formats: 10 km (500 D+) to push the pace, 17 km (1000 D+) to test your endurance;
  • Two walks: a sporting version of 8 km (300 D+) and a family walk of 6 km (200 D+), accessible and free for accompanied minors;
  • A children's race of approximately 1 km, free, with no timing or rankings, open to ages 3 to 11;
  • A committed organisation, with proceeds going back to the pupils of the Saint-Maximin school.

Course focus:

Here, you move between wooded trails and more open paths, with just enough climbs and surges to keep your legs under tension. The terrain alternates, and so do the landscapes. You pass through the shade of the trees, then emerge onto viewpoints that are well worth the effort.

The 17 km pushes the dial a little further with 1000 metres of elevation gain: it climbs, it wears you down, but it rewards you. The 10 km, meanwhile, stays playful and dynamic, perfect for challenging yourself without burning out completely.

All starting from the Saint-Maximin leisure centre, with staggered start times: 9:15 am for the 17 km, 9:30 am for the 10 km, and 9:40 am for the walks.

3 (very) good reasons to take part:

  • Give meaning to your race by supporting the children of the Saint-Maximin school;
  • Enjoy a varied terrain between forest and panoramic views over the Grésivaudan valley;
  • Share a true outdoor day, open to all levels and the whole family.

A small detail that could make all the difference: the SMT10 is included in the Grésivaudan Running Challenge. If you're aiming for the rankings, you'll need to complete at least 5 races out of the 13 on the circuit. And this year, cadets (aged 16 on race day) can also join in.
