Tiramisu Express

The "TIRAMISU EXPRESS" or "TIREX" is an ultra-cycling expedition, a self-supported orienteering challenge. It connects the legendary Mont Ventoux to the village of Finale in Sicily from September 12/13 to 20, 2026.

One starting point Two challenges One dessert.

One goal: to eat a giant tiramisu in the Sicilian village of Finale.

The Volcano Trail:

Approximately 2,100 km & 27,000 m of elevation gain.

Duration: 8 days.

Participants will be welcomed at the multi-purpose hall in Sault (84) on September 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM.

Departure on September 12 at 12:01 AM from the Sault racecourse (at the foot of Mont Ventoux).

Time limit: September 20th at 6:00 PM in Finale, Sicily, Italy at the Lido Marina di Finale (beach bar).

The Island Route:

Approximately 1,300 km & 19,000 m elevation gain.

Duration: 7 days.

Participants will be welcomed at the Sault (84) community center on September 12th, 2026 at 3:00 PM.

Departure: September 13th at 12:01 AM from the Sault racecourse (at the foot of Mont Ventoux).

Time limit: September 20th at 6:00 PM in Finale, Sicily, Italy at the Lido Marina di Finale (beach bar).

Self-sufficiency

This is a 100% self-supported event: ferries, accommodations, and meals are at your own expense.

No assistance is permitted.

Orientation & Safety

Checkpoints will be provided in the second expedition manual approximately 3 months in advance.

There are some gravel sections, but they are mostly smooth tracks (no mountain biking).

Island Route Ferries

Fixed crossings => you must book them!

Ferry 1: Toulon → Bastia – Sun., Sept. 13, 6:30 PM

Information and discount codes are in the expedition manual sent by email after registration.

Ferry 2: Bonifacio → Santa Teresa – flexible schedule, fixed ports

Book as early as possible.

Ferry 3: Cagliari → Palermo – Sat., Sept. 19, 5:00 PM

Only one crossing per week. No ferry, no tiramisu.

⛔ If one of the ferries (1 or 3) is full, the organizers will stop selling race bibs.

The Volcanoes Trail Ferry

One crossing only: Villa San Giovanni → Messina (20 min).

To be booked during the event.

Mandatory Equipment

• Traditional bicycle (electric assist prohibited)
• Helmet; pump & repair kit and inner tubes
• Front and rear lights, headlamp
• Clothing suitable for nighttime (reflective material) + very warm clothing (warm gloves)
• Phone, charger and power bank; GPS or maps
• Sleeping bag or survival blanket and bivy.
