Trail des cadoles

There are races that stand out for their elevation gain. Others for their atmosphere. And then there are those that tick all the boxes. The Trail des Cadoles belongs to this rare category. Head to Saône-et-Loire, in the heart of the Tournugeois region, for an immersion in the wild trails of the Brancion massif, with the Château as your backdrop. The scene is set, now it's your turn.

What you'll find on site:

Course Focus: Expect paths and trails, a near-total immersion in Natura 2000 protected areas, and a clear focus on singletrack. Up to 80% narrow, playful, sometimes technical, but always inspiring trails.

The 11km is accessible, but far from boring. It takes you along the legendary Arbanais singletrack, before a final loop through the medieval village. A non-negotiable bonus: the sunset over the Grosne Valley for a spectacular finish.

The 17km takes it up a notch. A concentrated dose of the best of the Brancion massif, with a significantly redesigned course and intelligently distributed elevation gain. Over 600m of climbing, constant changes of pace, very little tarmac, and always those cadoles (traditional stone huts), dry stone walls, and wooded sections that add character to every stride.

The 26km is the race for the lords. A wide loop around the former Brancion manor, panoramic views over the Grosne Valley, then a return due south following the cadoles. The finish line is the same as the 17km race, at dusk, when the light softens and your legs really start to feel the burn. A photo opportunity facing the setting sun, a visit to the castle, and a well-deserved finish.
