There are trails where you come looking for a finish line. And then there are those where you come mainly to cross through something.
With Zeoff Diois, you're heading out for two days of traveling trail running in the heart of the Drôme, between limestone, forests and ridge lines. No timing, no ranking, no big circus: just a small group, two route options, a roadbook, mountain trails and a base camp to really disconnect from everyday life.
The start is in Saillans, the finish in Luc-en-Diois, with a night at Moulin de Pradelle. In between, you advance through a territory that doesn't give everything away for free: the 3 Becs, the Saou forest, the Grand Delmas, the Glandasse as backdrop… It climbs, it breathes, it sometimes slows down. And that's exactly where it becomes interesting.
Route focus:
Two routes allow you to choose your level of commitment without changing the spirit of the adventure. The Trace Best-Of offers 53 km total, spread over two days, with 1,500 m of positive elevation gain. It keeps you lower in the valley while still letting you enjoy the grand landscapes of the Diois. The Trace Maxi pushes further: 76 km total, 2,300 m of elevation gain, with more committed passages towards the summits, including crossing the 3 teeth and the Grand Delmas ridge.
The two-stage format changes a lot of things. You're not leaving to "run a race" and go home immediately after. You run, you reach the camp, you eat hot food, you sleep in the heart of the massif, then you set off again the next day. Your main bag is transported, aid stations are planned, the route is scouted, validated and marked. You keep the essential: move light, manage your effort, look up when the landscape opens.
And if the first day shakes you up a bit more than expected, you can change routes between D1 and D2. Not to "quit". To stay in the adventure, at your own pace.
